Whether you manage the operation of a kitchen within a university, restaurant or correctional facility, time is money. For fast-paced kitchens that require a high-volume of food to operate, steam kettles can improve the overall functionality within the kitchen, by making it easy to cook large amounts of food at once. Today we are going to take a look what exactly a steam kettle is and why this piece of equipment is a crucial asset for fast-paced service.

Steam Kettles are essentially large, self-contained versions of stockpots. Steam Kettles utilize steam energy to transfer heat in order to cook the product inside. Steam Kettles can help reduce food waste that can occur due to overcooking and burning. This is done by allowing you to easily reheat meals and simmer foods for long periods of time without overcooking the contents inside. This piece of equipment typically ranges in sizes anywhere from 5 to 200 gallons; however, 40 gallons is the most commonly used steam kettle within the commercial kitchen. Most kettles come with optional accessories and features that allow you to enhance the operation for specific applications, such as mixers, draw off valves, or added security packages for environments that withstand more abuse than others.

Steam Kettles can be found in either a stationary model or a tilting model. As well as in a 2/3 jacket or a full jacket. The 2/3 jacket kettles typically come equipped with a spout, to easily dispense of contents. Full jacket steam kettles typically do not have pour spouts. The main difference between a stationary model and a tilting model is the process that they are emptied. Tilting Kettles can be easier to empty, this is done by tilting the entire kettle forward to dispense foods and liquids. Tilting Kettles are also ideal for smaller volumes of foods. Stationary models have a draw-off valve for draining liquids and allow operators to control the flow of the spout. These kettles are typically used for very large volume operations. You can find stationary and tilting kettles in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate your kitchens needs.

Steam Kettles allow you to produce greater volumes of foods while also reducing labor for both preparation and cleaning.
