Today’s commercial automatic food processors are more versatile than ever before. Whether you’re looking at entry-level just to assist with slicing and chopping or a do-it-all machine that will get hours of daily usage, there is a food processor for your operation. We took a look at some of our favorites, Robot Coupe R2N, Vollrath 40826, Hobart FP41-1 and Waring FP2200, to see who comes out on top when they are matched head-to-head.

Round 1: Battle of the Three Quarts

We are huge lovers of all things Vollrath and the Vollrath 40826 commercial food processor is no exception. This is an economical choice for those looking for an entry into the commercial automatic food processor world. The included S blade chops, mixes, and blends while the 3-quart stainless steel bowl and aluminum body are a snap to clean. Hospitals and assisted living facilities will find the Vollrath 40826 makes pureeing patients food easier than ever before.

Robot Coupe invented the automatic food processor so it’s no surprise that they make another one of our favorites. The Robot Coupe R2N has a continuous feed attachment, meaning the operator can keep supplying the processor with food and slices shoot out into a separate container making it preferable for larger batches. Like the Vollrath, the R2N also comes with a 3-quart bowl attachment that allows this food processor to puree, blend, mix and chop. However, in addition to the S blade, the R2N comes with 2 slicing discs and has 21 different discs available for purchase to meet every cutting need imaginable.

We have to give round one to the Robot Coupe R2N. While the Vollrath 40826 is a great option, for a few dollars more the Robot Coupe R2N comes with two slicing discs and a continuous feed chute that increase its versatility.

    Round 2: The Big Guns

If your foodservice operation requires more frequent usage and a slightly larger capacity, then you’re ready for these large and in charge food processors.

First up is the heavy-duty Hobart FP41-1. Where to even begin? The list of features is long! The three-setting dial is super easy to operate, anodized aluminum housing looks great, ¾ horsepower motor is lightning fast, and the safety features are second-to-none. But our favorite feature of the Hobart FP41-1 is the patented bowl scraper. As the blades are slicing and doing their thing, the automatic scraper comes around to make sure that none of the ingredients are being left behind unmixed. This way the operator doesn’t have to stop, remove the lid, and stir. It’s all done right inside the food processor! The FP41-1 ships with a 4-quart bowl and an S blade.

Its challenger is the medium duty Waring FP2200. Like the Hobart FP41-1, it’s also got a ¾ horsepower motor, stand-out safety features and user-friendly controls. Unlike its challenger, though, the Waring FP2200 has a 6-quart bowl and a continuous feed attachment for larger jobs. In addition to the S blade, this model includes 2 slicing discs, 2 dicing discs and a shredding disc and as an extra added bonus, they’re all dishwasher safe. Despite its laundry list of fabulous features and increased capacity, as mentioned, this is a medium duty food processor meant for light day-to-day operations.

After a very tough deliberation, our judges have come to a decision. Round 2 goes to… The Hobart FP41-1! In the end, its heavy-duty capabilities, tough as nails construction, and fancy patented scraper were too much for us to resist.

Whether you choose the Robot Coupe R2N, Vollrath 40826, Hobart FP41-1 or Waring FP2200 you can’t go wrong. All four are wonderful models that will serve your foodservice operation well. If you have any questions regarding the purchase of new foodservice equipment, our team is happy to help!
