According to the USDA, Americans eat in average 50 million burgers a day! Hamburgers are cherished by many Americans that every year on May 28th, we celebrate National Hamburger Day. While no one knows when this unofficial holiday was created, we do believe it was created by someone who wanted to appreciate the beauty that is the Burger.

Some fun facts about Burgers: The origin of the Hamburger is not really known, but the term hamburger is derived from the city of Hamburg, Germany, where beef from Hamburg cows was minced and formed into patties to make Hamburg steaks. The first Hamburg Steaks are thought to be introduced to the U.S. by German immigrants during the 18th and 19th centuries. Over the years, that dish has evolved into what we know today as the beloved Hamburger and in the 1920s, the Cheeseburger. Today, hamburgers account for almost half of all sandwiches sold in the US!

You can celebrate National Hamburger Day however you want but we recommend you celebrate by eating a delicious, juicy Burger! A good Burger starts with the beef patty, but Burgers no longer are made from just beef, these days you can find Turkey Burgers, Buffalo Burgers, Chicken Burgers, Veggie Burgers, and basically a lot of different ingredients you can create a patty from. To properly celebrate this holiday, we suggest throwing some patties on the grill. Add some toppings and condiments, such as ketchup, mustard, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and maybe even a fried egg. Check out this hands free condiment dispenser, perfect if you are serving a crowd, build the Burgers up and enjoy!
